Halloween, Mice and Money
On Friday I took a half day off work and went into town to meet one of my friends from home, Hannah. The weekend was spent shopping for fancy dress costumes, eating, meeting up with Joe and his brother, having people over for fajitas and chocolate fondue (about 15!), down the local pub (where a party was booked for about fifty of us), and generally just having a good time
Expensive overall, but definitely worth it. The weekend seemed to last ages because of Friday, and I treated myself to some things including Wii Fit Plus, some dice, and the Fairy Dust expansion pack for Munchkin.
(I was a devil for Halloween – black dress, black strappy shoes, small red horns and a red trident. Not too much effort – quick and cheap!)
I did freak out on Friday night though because I opened a drawer to discover a live mouse
One of the cats had brought it in and lost it, at which point it had scrambled all over the room, sneaked in a small hole, and popped out of the drawer at the top, scaring me half to death! I have a hatred of animals that have non-furry tails for some reason. Mice are just icky. I do feel a kind of link to them though; they don’t want to be in my house and I don’t want them to be there – but the cats do
I think part of the problem is that I live near quite a few warehouses, and it seems like the cats have been pillaging nests. The mice are all tiny and I thought they would be hibernating by now, but the cats still seem to be finding them.
Sadly, the DVDs I bought for Halloween only just turned up today. I got Identity, Perfect Creature, Final Destination, Fido and The Condemned for a shade over £10 in total, including postage, which I’m really pleased about. Shame the postal strike delayed them being sent, but they’re here now apart from Fido, which ironically was the only one I was intending to buy!
I’ve been Christmas shopping recently, and I’ve got part of my sister’s present and my dad’s present sorted. I know what I’m going to get my mum, and I have a vague idea of what to get Joe. Then there are a`few other things to get for friends and help Joe decide what he’s going to buy his family (which is far, far bigger than mine), and I’m done. I’m buying fewer and fewer Christmas presents each year at the moment, mainly because my friends and I continue to move further and further away from each other!! I’ll be sending lots of cards though
There are so many things I want myself right now, which is slightly weird considering last year I didn’t really want anything apart from a DS. But I’ve got a nice Amazon wish list set up in preparation for my birthday and Christmas, so hopefully I’ll get a few things off that. If not, I’ll be spending my extra cash from review writing there anyway – I’m up to about £45, so once that clears it’s time to shop! At the top of my list are the Logitech wireless wii keyboard, some business and copywriting books, and a few wii games. I’m hoping that I’ll get the Hello Kitty USB stick I want bought for me
