New month, new design

The last theme stayed up for a pretty long time despite the fact that I don’t always like black backgrounds for long periods of time. To be honest, it took me a really long time before I came up with a new design I actually liked (and in part because the only place I can design at the moment is at work during lunch).

This is definitely a more simple design. It took far less time than the pink and black one, and it’s also a lot less image heavy. The only problem really was deciding on a background colour, because I tried various shades of brown and it just wasn’t working. I’m not 100% sure about the colours I ended up choosing, but I didn’t want another pink layout and the green just worked better than the purple.

If you want another theme, as always you can just check out the ‘Change the Theme’ link in the menu. With upgrading WordPress and stuff, I tend to be having mixed results – sometimes it will change the theme and sometimes it doesn’t. If you try it, please drop a comment to let me know your outcome!

So…Michael Jackson’s passed on. I think I’m a little on the young side to fully appreciate him as an iconic legend for myself, but I can understand how important he was to other people. I think part of it was that it came as such a shock as well, and there’s still so much undecided and a lot of mystery surrounding it all.

The other big thing at the moment is the heat. I hate it when it’s too hot! Plus, I don’t have a fan or anything at home so it’s sweltering. It’s too hot to go anywhere or do anything – even just lying on my bed in a long t-shirt is too hot. I prefer sunny weather, but with a breeze – maybe I should move to the sea.

I really should have started packing up my room to move back to Nottingham by now, but I’ve only got as far as throwing and recycling some old stuff. I said when I first moved here that I wouldn’t bring much, I swear it just kind of appears… Hopefully it will all fit in my dad’s car though, otherwise I’m stuck.

This weekend I’m going to take some stuff back up to Notts and spend some time with some friends. It’s the end of the academic year, which means some people will be leaving and I’ll probably never see them again, which is always sad.

It’s also a bit sad because of leaving the lovely people behind at work. I’ve already bought a leaving gift for everyone – 9kg (stone and a half) of chocolate mini eggs which were on offer at the Cadbury Factory Outlet shop. I took a couple of pics with my phone so I’ll add them at some point! Now we’re kind of getting to the stage where they are getting a bit sickly. The original novelty was good though – especially as I made them guess what was in the box with the only clue being ‘busy chicken’ I’ve also got various things to sort out at work before I leave, such as the quote book, all of the brushes/fonts/patterns/designs and images I have on this computer and my desk and drawers. It’s never ending, and yet I can’t be bothered doing anything because it’s so hot.

I want a summer holiday so badly, which is made worse by facebook and all the celebrity gossip sites of people on the beach. I didn’t get a chance last year because of work, and the same is true this year because of changing jobs. Joe has promised me a weekend away somewhere though, but it will have to be near where he’s working since there is nowhere nice enough near Notts to go. So I’m kind of torn between someone like Bath and somewhere on the beach. I love the sea and I miss it. Having said that, I can get to Wales much more easily and go to the beach there with my family.

Right, time to get on and actually get something done!
