New beginnings and loose ends

Whew, the last few days have been really busy! But now things will be quieter until the weekend, so here’s a quick catch up.

Thursday night I went back to Notts for a long weekend. I was expecting to have to walk into the middle of town, but Al and Joe picked me up as I was walking down the road which was lucky! I caught up with some of my friends on the Friday, we went to Chris’s and the pub.

Saturday morning was spent doing chores…I’m so sick of cleaning Joe’s house and I’ll be glad when his leg is properly mended!! I did make him do some cleaning though that he could do sitting down :P Then Saturday afternoon we went into town. I really fancied the lovely chicken salad that Slug and Lettuce do, particularly as it was such a hot day. After we’d eaten, we went to the cinema to see Ice Age 3, which is adorable and hilarious :) So good, and the baby mammoth is the sweetest thing ever! Then in the evening we watched Panic Room, which scared me a lot but is such a classic.

Sunday we got up late, and then it was time to pack before Joe’s dad took us to Cheltenham, where Joe is working this summer. I dissuaded him from spending £460/month on rent, and he found a much cheaper place. However, it’s down an alleyway and I seriously thought the house was falling apart. His room smelt all musty despite the fact that the previous tenants only moved out the same day. But I gave it a good clean and sorted his stuff out, so hopefully it shouldn’t be too bad. It looked a lot better with his stuff out. However, he has no light (the previous tenants stole all the light bulbs), no hot water (the boiler isn’t working) and no Internet (despite being promised it). So I’m thinking maybe the more expensive place would have been a better option…! He does seem to like his housemates though so far, which is really good. There’s 5 of them and they’re all working where Joe is, so they should have quite a bit in common soon enough.

It’s another half hour from Joe’s temporary place to mine, so I was pretty tired with the 120 mile journey, though not as much as Joe’s dad who must have been driving for at least 10 hours, originally starting at Sussex (!)

So now it’s Monday and my last week in work *yay* We have a new manager manager starting today, who so far seems very quiet but pleasant enough. I still need to get on with packing, so far I’ve packed all the clothes I won’t be wearing this week, and my shoes. I also have a box of books ready to go and another box filled with random stuff. I’m kind of working round my room – I’ve done my wardrobe, and I have my chest of drawers to go (which has all my stuff on really, from books to moisturiser to random junk) as well as my bathroom. And I need to sort out my kitchen stuff. As I’m having a leaving BBQ this weekend, I’m going to take all my frozen stuff over to Lee’s (which is where the BBQ is) to cook. I have random things like pizza and chips and baking stuff.

Talking of kitchen things, I came back yesterday to find the ants have invaded the kitchen again, possibly attracted by a tube of icing I didn’t leave fully closed. So down went the salt again, and I just went mental with it. So I’ll see what my housemate says/does – otherwise I’ll add more to it today and then give it until Wednesday before I clean it all out.

I really need to finish editing the final few Photoshop tutorials so I can launch the new menu page for them. I’ve also got ideas for a few new tutorials, but I might add those a bit later on, I’ll have to see. I’m also thinking of making the quizzes a bit longer as well as adding some new ones, and I still haven’t got round to putting all my new photos in the gallery. I’m not sure how much time I will have to work on the site though as I’m going to be busy with 2 hen nights, a BBQ, visiting my family, moving 120 miles and starting a new job over the next two weeks! Plus I won’t be settled until I move back into my own house at the beginning of August. The reason for that is purely because I have a desk in there, which sounds silly, but it’s so much easier to design and sort stuff when you have a mouse and a flat surface! As well as that using my laptop on a desk instead of lazing in bed means I’m much more likely to get stuff done.

Right, so…back to work…

Aww, I’ve been wanting to watch Ice Age 3! Hehe!

I’m glad to hear that Joe’s leg’s healing well! =) That’s crazy that Joe’s living there with no light, no hot water, or internet!! I wouldn’t be able to survive that! That’s great that his housemates are awesome, though! =)

Good luck with packing, and your last week of work! =) Woah, and good luck with those ants too… =/

Haha, you’re right, it is easier to use your laptop on a desk instead of the bed because of the mouse(for easy designing, like you’ve said), and the whole thing about being lazy. I get lazy if I use my laptop on my bed too!

  3. Your last week at work?! Damn you’re lucky, I still have 3 to go. But I guess I’ll at least be able to enjoy my break once you’re already back to work.

*reads about your plans for your site* Wow, that looks like a lot to do — and you already have so much! I love all the content that you have on your site. :D I’m bookmarking it and visiting when it’s not terribly late (it’s 1:06 AM right now, haha) so that I can read more of your stuff. ^_^ Keep up your amazing work. :D

Wow you spent most of the weekend cleaning! 460 pounds a month for rent sounds quite reasonable to me… I’m paying $800 Cdn so that’s around the same and I have an average 1bd apartment. $800 is starting to become cheap though where I live.

To be honest with You Mary, I don’t think 800$ is cheap… I can understand that it could be high class apartment but neverthless it would be expensive for me.

And the Ice Age 3 – funny, but the first part was the best ;)
