New year

I’m half-procrastinating, half-convincing myself that I’ve been intending to blog so it’s okay.

Came on the internet to look up some stuff about rhyme royal, and got distracted – as ever :p

So, new year. I still have my massive essay to write, my other one is probably 95% done at least; unfortunately it’s not in until several days after the first one. Ack.

I’ve been looking after myself a lot better recently (and way better than this time last year, when all I thought about was death (!). I bought some eye cream from Lush, various exfoliating stuff from the Body Shop and Tesco, and those in addition to my usual cleansing/moisturising should make my skin better (though I haven’t really been seeing results at the moment; too much Christmas chocolate!). It’s easy to not bother with an extensive skincare regime -  people compliment my skin owing to the fact that I’m quite genetically lucky in that department (well I have to be physically genetically lucky somewhere). Once I’m back in Notts, it’s back to the generally healthy meals I cook. I’ve dropped a jeans size since I’ve lost a stone and a half (21 lbs), and now I’m technically of a normal weight after floating a few pounds into the overweight section for a long time. Annoying though, because I’m kind of limited in what I can wear – I’m reluctant to buy clothes at the moment because I know that soon they will be too big *sigh*. And jeans are so expensive. Back to my eating…I particularly like wholewheat pasta with a nice organic tomato-based sauce, and a lot of freshly added organic vegetables. I also like making my own pizzas, salads, and being lazy and cooking chicken or fish with steamed or microwaved veg. Stir-frys are another favourite of mine. Generally white meat and lots of veg and you can’t go wrong.  Lots of fruit to snack on, cereal and rice milk or wholemeal toast and honey for breakfast. And for snacks, organic  hummous and carrots or wholemeal toast, fruity yoghurt and/or fruit. My mouth is watering just thinking about it, I’ve eaten so much junk at my parents’ over Christmas. I also can’t wait to go back to the gym, I missed it a lot while I was ill. And I need to get my money’s worth…

So that’s a couple of my main new year’s resolutions. I also want to control my temper a bit better, but that’ll come when I start eating and exercising normally again, I love feeling mellow and just generally happy. I hope the weather improves quickly because I want to go swimming with Joey and it’s just too bloody cold to even contemplate at the moment.

I’m looking forward to next semester, I have a grand total of 4 hours a week and I’m going to do my best to make sure they’re on the same day, or on consecutive days. Yes I’ll be spending a lot of time working,  especially on my dissertation, but I’m 3 essays and a drama presentation away from graduating, once I’ve finished these 2 essays and done my exam (4:30pm on a Saturday – wtf?).

So I’m off now to write up my rhyme royal stuff and struggle on with cognitive poetics *rolls eyes*. Why I decided to take that, I have NO idea. On the plus side, it will look great when I’m applying to unis…another thing I need to get a move on with.

You’re so far in your study already. I’m only in year one – studying English too! I’m glad I don’t have to write my dissertation yet though; I bet it’s very stressful!

Also, I believe one of these: ) is missing from your main CHUNK of text. Tut tut

Good luck with your dissertation though. I can’t say that I’m yet worried about mine, but really it is less than one year away when I should start.
