I’m back, I survived, I had a great time. I’m also really good friends with Lindsey now; I love it when you meet someone and get on with them really well from the word go.
Despite the fact that term starts tomorrow, I don’t really have any lectures until the 8th October, so I have a little time to get sorted, organise house stuff like bills, and get some work in before I officially start. 6 hour weeks this semester, so a lot of motivation and self-study required. I’m determined to work hard this year, nothing is going to stand in my way.
Last night we went out for Hwan-Min’s birthday. One of his friends was up from Oxford doing a stall at freshers’ fayre - a co-founder of clickuni.com. He was actually a lot nicer than I expected, gave me some great careers advice, and ended up showing us a video of him and others at facebook and google headquarters - fantastically geeky.Â
It was quite amusing – we went to a Chinese restaurant where you cook your own food at the table, then we went to Pit and Pendulum (my fave bar) for cocktails. When we got kicked out of there because it was closing, we went to Spoons (Hwan-Min didn’t have his ID and there were bouncers everywhere else), then got kicked out of there when it was closing. By that time, the original 16~ had become 6. We went back to Hwan-Min’s house and he and his housemates went to bed/ON THE INTERNET, whilst David showed us the video (he was staying there), and then Richard dropped me and Lindsey back at our respective homes (bless). It ended up being rather a cheap night – Yex picked me up initially (scenic tour of nottingham #1 – she doesn’t know her left from her right, bless), then taxi into town was v cheap as there were so many of us. Hwan-Min’s housemate Imo ended up buying me most of a cocktail (2 for 1 offer which I was going to pay her back for, then paid for her taxi fare, and she insisted she didn’t want the rest), and then David bought me one. Richard gave me a lift back as I said (scenic tour of nottingham #2 – he missed a turning), so it was all good. Lots of fun, I haven’t been out in Notts for a long time, and I haven’t been to Pit in what feels like forever.
I bought Hwan-Min a joint present with Yex – Smallville season 2 on DVD. We have this whole ‘red bag’ inside joke from Richard’s birthday, when Hwan-Min refused to put 20p towards a gift bag for Richard’s present, insisting it was unnecessary. So I bought about 6 gift bags in different sizes, then put the DVD set in the smallest, sellotaped it, put it in the next bag up, and so on. It was funnier than I expected it to be – most people were laughing when he opened it (although that may have been his face). I also got him a pack of playing cards of drinking games, and two decision dice – one for food and one for drink.
In other news, I’ve put on about a pound since I left for my holiday, which is not bad considering I couldn’t stick to my detox and I haven’t been going to the gym. I’m waiting for Jen’s student loan to come through so I can bank her rent cheque and then buy another fridge/freezer and pay for my gym membership. I bought some really good scales yesterday that show water weight, muscle mass, BMI, BMR and body fat percentage. My body fat has gone down by about 9% since I started my detox, and I’m properly hydrated which is all good. If only my housemates weren’t such good cooks, then maybe I’d be sticking to my diet completely lol.

*waves* Hi, I'm
I’m glad that you had a great time!
Wow, you don’t have lecture until October?! LUCKY!! Good luck with getting everything sorted out, though!
Wow, crazy about that co-founder guy. But wow, Facebook and Google headquarters?! Now that’s awesome! Hehe.
Hehe, I’m glad you had fun celebrating Hwan-Min’s birthday!
Anyways, hehe… Good luck with your diet!
Wow, sounds like you had a lot of fun, that’s great. Wow, I have to say the most exciting parts to read were the gag wrapping for the present and the Chinese restaurant where you cook for yourself. Good luck sticking to studying and dieting…I’m finding it rather hard myself. xo
Sounds like you had a great time then, huh!
I love nights like those, where you just hang out with friends in different places. It’s good to see everyone again.
Sounds like a really good night, it being cheap must have been a bonus.
Only 1 pound thats really good, good luck going back to uni.
