Day 14

So I’m on day 14 of my official detox…almost halfway through the first month already! I’ve had a few cravings for things (for some reason, cinema food) but not given in to them..I have treated myself a couple of times though, once to potato wedges (wow), and I ordered a sandwich that didn’t state in the menu that it came with mayo…but I scraped most of that off as I don’t really like it anyway.

I’ve lost at least 7 pounds so far (haven’t weighed myself for a bit, am trying to avoid doing it and have only done so twice – three times if you count my gym induction – since I started my unofficial detox  on 26th July). But I’ve also been going to the gym and swimming. I’m going swimming again with my sister tomorrow, taking full advantage of the lunchtime ‘adults only’ session, where it’s a lot quieter and minus the screaming kids.

My ultimate goal weight I want to reach by the end of October/early November. Hopefully I’ll have a bit more money to buy new clothes by then as I’m completely broke and have exceeded my overdraft limit. Oops. Plus, no money from my dad since he’s been working nights a lot recently AND he hasn’t been talking to me due to a misunderstanding (on his part, ironically), about what time I would be finished at Tom’s leaving party. I have a holiday to pay for and uni books to buy too, grr.

I’ve also spent a lot of time tidying my room and organising boxes of books to be taken to Oxfam. Since my shelves at home were mainly double-stacked, they are still full to bursting, and I have an additional bookcase at Nottingham, full of my most recent/uni books. Sigh. I just can’t bare to part with all my teenage fiction, and there’s a small part of me that’s always like, well they may come in useful for something someday. I may choose to specialise in kid’s literature, I may want to reference a book or idea for an essay as I’ve done in the past, you just never know. Plus, some of the older books may well be worth something (I think the oldest I have is from 1926), and I have some which were prizes that have some kind of sentimental value or something…I could definitely identify with a customer today who said she was having a clearout of books and being ‘ruthless…well, provisionally ruthless’. Exactly how I feel. Even now, I’m not sure that I want to part with the ones I’ve sorted, particularly stupid as they are things like ‘Stories for 6 year olds’ and books I have two copies of. Today I started reading ‘Mansfield Park’, and I want to get back into that for another couple of hours before we go shopping (I’m worried that I get excited now about buying fruit!), so this is it for now :)

Congratulations on getting so far in your new ‘diet’! WOW 7 pounds so quickly!! That’s crazy!! Good for you! I’m trying to loose weight now by eating a little healthier and playing DDR for at least 15 minutes everyday, so I can appreciate your results!!
Thanks for your comment! ^o^ Cute stuff is a bit hard to find here, too, but I’ve managed to find 2 or 3 places, though they are a bit of a drive. Though it can be expensive, there’s always online, too. =)
Oh, if it’s not a bother, could you update my link in your links section? I had to switch URLs to http://exchanging-oxygen.net from http://starcourt.f-ish.net. I’d really appreciate it! ^_^

Yeah, I’d have to say that I agree with you. Many people do post pictures on their blogs as a form of expression.

Seven pounds is pretty good. I quit soda and took up taking Alli, which is a smaller dose version of Zenecal… blocks a large percentage of unhealthy fats in food. I have been also watching my food intake and such… so far 15 pounds (I am sure 10 of it is from water weight from lack of carbonated beverages.)

Sometimes even some light stretches and workouts at home can do wonders… hopefully the swimming will be a faster solution and you get to your goal on time. :)
