Snowtingham

Well it’s been absolutely freezing here and there was some fairly heavy (for England) snow a couple of days ago. I woke up one morning to the sound of ducks complaining about the weather, but they seem to have cheered up now it’s got slightly warmer.

I worked quite a bit this week, and it was Mr Eager’s birthday on Friday. He brought in sweets and chocolate for the whole office (!) which was really sweet but kind of reminded me a bit of primary school, where we used to bring in lollipops for everyone if it was our birthday etc. Still, free sweets and chocolate at work is not bad. I’m not complaining!

Last night a girl came round to view the house, as I’m looking for housemates for the next academic year. She said she was impressed with the house but was going to think about it as she had a few more to see. Then I got an email from her later that evening saying she’d decided she’d like to take the room if that was ok with me. I didn’t meet her for that long, but she distinctly reminded me of one of my best friends from school, and I think we have quite a bit in common so it should be good. The main thing I was worried about was living on my own again – as long as there is at least one other person living with me I don’t mind, but we still have an extra room free if we can get anyone else in. Still, it does come in useful because people tend to stay over quite often and at least then they have a bedroom to sleep in.

I’m killing some time before I go to the station to get Sarah, my friend from college who is coming to stay with me for the rest of the weekend. We’re going shopping in town, then hopefully meeting up with Tabi and Richard, and then come back to the house so she can meet Alana. Then we’re off to Hwan Min/Paul/Natalie/Johnny’s house party tonight which should be…interesting. Crazy things always happen when Sarah is around anyway, but this might be super weird. We’ll see.

I got my exam results yesterday; I didn’t do as well as I would’ve liked, but Alana keeps telling me that second year is the hardest and I can definitely see reasons for that. I think the depression kind of affected me too. But when it comes academic stuff, the worse I do the more motivated I am to work, so hopefully I will get something positive out of this. I didn’t do that badly overall, I’m just disappointed with my Language mark (although the questions were badly worded and I didn’t do enough revision), especially as I got a first last year.

So…what else? Oh yeah, I went to see The Vagina Monologues on Thursday with Sarah (from my course), Kerry, Laura and Alana. There were a few English students in it that I recognised, and overall it was amazing. It made me laugh and cry, and everything in between, and I went through such a range of emotions overall, it was crazy. Good fun though.

I have to go catch the bus into town now, but I’ll quickly return comments on the last entry before I go.

Ooh, congrats on the new housemate! Hehe, reminds me of when a friend of
mine’s told me that she went looking for a place to rent a room at…
    LOL…

Sorry you didn’t do as well on the exam as you’ve though! Hmm, second
year’s the hardest?? Well, in my case, that’s true also…. Hahah… I got
my lowest GPA EVER the first semester of my second year of college…

    Anyways, have fun with Sarah!

You’re lucky that you get snow. We got like 2 inches one day here.

I’m sorry you didn’t do well on the exam, but, like you said, maybe something good will come out of it.

Eek stay warm! I hope the girl decides to take the room, since you liked her and think you both can get along. It’s so important to be friends with your roommates, cause otherwise it reallllly stinks.
