I actually have no idea where time is going, at the same time feeling that time is going really slowly…strange much? Maybe it’s because I’m doing quite a lot of stuff at the moment, whilst counting the days until the 20th, which is when Andy is coming to visit.
So I’ve had lectures and seminars as usual this week. On Tuesday I went to The Warsaw Diner in town for the Polish Society Social. I got to taste a lot of Polish food, which was interesting (and surprisingly nice, if a little on the greasy side). Also, I got to chat to Laura who I haven’t seen for a while so that’s cool. On Wednesday I went to the Community Action induction (so I can do volunteering work through uni), and met lots of lovely people. Wednesday night I went to the cinema with Richard and saw Children Of Men, which was good if slightly freaky
Thursday I met Sarah at the library before lectures, then we went to the theatre to see . Again, good, if a little freaky in the way it overtly addresses racism and violence. Perhaps the freakiest thing, however, was the fact that I happened to book seats right next to the girl that Sarah and I hate the most in our year. She’s just incredibly irritating and blah. But luckily the theatre was emptyish where we were and we moved seats during the interval. Yesterday I got the train home (I was stressed because I missed a bus and thought I would miss the train too, but I made it by about 5 minutes). Worryingly, I overhead the following conversation:
Old Woman 1: Ohh, this is the way we go when we go to London!
Old Woman 2: Oh, so it is!
Now for those of you who a) are unfamiliar with British geography or b) unfamiliar with my travelling from home to my parents’, here’s a little background. I was travelling from Nottingham, which is roughly in the middle of the country. Manchester, where we were headed, is in the north west of the country. London is in the south east. We could not have been going any more in the opposite direction. I find it rather worrying that these people had reached the age they had (probably late 60s at the youngest) without grasping the rough directions of two of England’s biggest cities. I just thanked God they got off at Sheffield, because at Sheffield the train pulls in, switches lines, then pulls out in the ‘same’ direction, which is confusing enough for normal people
Later, I heard an argument break out between two strangers about whether the train was headed for Manchester or Liverpool, only being settled by a third stranger to tell them that it went to both Manchester and Liverpool. Sometimes I wonder how people manage to buy tickets/find their way onto the train in the first place.
When I finally arrived at home, I got greeted by my family in their various ways (ranging from kisses to ?Pom pissing on my feet with excitement). It’s nice being looked after for a couple of days and seeing everyone again. I’ve been shopping twice, and today we picked up my new TV from my dad’s friend. I’ve met him once that I remember, the first time being last year when I got my laptop from him. The first thing he said to me was, ‘Have you lost weight?’, which threw me so much I nearly fell over in shock. I expect comments about my weight from females, and generally people who haven’t seen me for ages. Added to that is the fact that I’ve been gaining rather than losing, possibly something to do with the supposed 10 pounds or so that students apparently gain in their first year, and also a whole summer of not going to the gym *shrugs* Also, it was kind of embarrassing, seeing as I was with my dad and cousin at the time. I’m just hoping the scales at home are wrong, lol. But I somehow doubt they are
My sister went to a couple of open days today, since she’s starting sixth form college (roughly 16-18 year olds) next year. One of the colleges she went to see was , so I went along to see how it’s changed, see a couple of old teachers etc. I ended up talking to prospective students, talking about the history and geography courses etc. lol. I did get the chance to catch up with two or three of my old teachers though, and found out that a couple of them know some of my teachers from high school which is rather weird. Sooo by then my family had got tired of waiting for me, so I walked back instead of getting a lift with them. I spent this evening watching (those Scottish brothers who I’ve nicknamed ‘Frodo and Friend’ really really need to leave. Soon.), and . Tomorrow my dad is driving me back to Notts and doing a few jobs like finishing off setting up the alarm, setting up the TV, hanging a few mirrors. I really need to take some pictures of the house soon because there are none up in the gallery yet!
I’m slightly concerned about the number of comments – if you’re having any trouble posting one then please email me!

*waves* Hi, I'm
Hey Jenni! I’ll respond back to some of your comments the next time I blog, and I’ll e-mail you to let you know when it’s up!
Anyways… Hehe about time going fast, yet, it’s slow. I’ve had that feeling before.
Hmm… Polish food…
Hehe about the 2 women and saying which way it was to go to London!! Hahaha… My mom’s like that… She’s not good with directions either… LOL.
Hehe about you losing weight…
Anyways, hmm… I think you’re getting more comments than me still. LOL. We’re all so busy that my number of comments and hits have dropped dramatically!!
That’s weird, maybe they suffered form amnesia or something??
I’d love to see pictures of the house, houses are fun XD
And you shouldn’t be worried about the number of comments, because you’re getting quite a lot I’d say
No better way to be greeted by your dog than him/her pissing on you…. Haha! Poor old ladies. The train CAN be rather confusing…
But that’s a little scary.
Oh boy the trains in England! I was constantly worried that I was on the wrong train because they don’t always tell you over the intercom ALL of the stops they are making. My most common route though was only between Shrewsbury and Telford, a mere 20 minute journey. That one wasn’t that frightening.
Your dog pisses on your feet to say hello?! Lovely…
Children of Men was a pretty good film, I thought
Arghhh trains. English trains can be annoying. Luckily when I get a train home from Sheffield I only have to change trains once. I hate changing trains!!
Hehe I’ve been taking photos of my house too
I feel exactly the same about time… it’s weird how it’s going too fast and way too slow at the same time…
Haha stupid people on the train!
One of my dogs does that too when he’s overexcited… yuck, lol.
Mmm… polish food! Polish food is so good! I love it! I love German food too.
Sorry I haven’t commented for soooo long. I’ve just been rushed off my feet. I haven’t commented on anyone’s blogs at all. Got a few things straight this week, so hopefully I’ll be a regular commenter again!
Glad you get to see Andy again. You’ll have to post some photos of you and him in your blog. I don’t know what he looks like lol!
I love Polish food. Well, it’d be bad if I didn’t lol!
I think I’m going to be visiting my friend at Notts this week or next, can I come and say hi please? (just inviting myself there. Tell me to pip off if you want!)
Glad you’re well. Luv Rose xxx
lol those old people, aww your cat missed you
I really need to go to the gym, it’s been months since i last went lol i’m to scared to get on the scales
I still am not too sure about that even after you explained it lol Although, it may also be because I’m tired & brain dead at the moment
Isn’t it weird how sometimes people think you lost weight when you gained it, I just think I must not look too awful I look like I lost weight
Anyways, take care!
p.s. maybe people just aren’t very good at math and can’t comment haha
jk
wow. people sure do get confused in trains!
i’ve actually never tried riding a train… but it kinda sounds ‘fun’ riding one xD
anypoo, i think it’s really nice going back to places you’ve been before like your school
oh memories…
Haha… i also get comments like that… it surprises me that sometimes they also get their comments the other way around of what really happened!
I laughed when I read that bit about Pom pissing on your feet. Lol!
That conversation you overheard of the older ladies sounds hillarious too. Hehe.
Sounds like you had a good time at your old school.. haha.. convince many people about the courses?? Haha.
Btw, the hardest part about posting a comment is the math sum I have to do. Hahah. My head hurts! Hee.
Hope you’re having a great time with Andy!!!
Take care Xox
