Blossom.nu

You know that part in the old Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film where Willy Wonka lets the kids loose in the amazing sugar-filled room with sugar mushrooms and candy balls and stuff? Well, it’s kind of how I feel now about finally opening this site. I know it sounds crazy/sad/the ramblings of Jenni, but I’ve been working on this site for months on and off. I still didn’t properly make the deadline (there are many things to add/edit, and the tutorials I have left to do need completely re-writing and re-organising), but it feels amazing to have got this far. I’ve had so many problems and so much stress along the way, and I feel like a person who has been on a long journey but has finally succeeded in their wishes, and is happy to be returning home. Yeah…I know this isn’t making much sense lol.

So anyway, go forth, check out what’s new, what’s changed. Especially get in there with the interaction – there’s a new question script, new commenting, and best of all great new plugboards. And I feel all inspired and eager to update even more, so I’ll be your replying to your questions and returning your comments asap, as well as all the other stuff I have planned :) Please grab a button and update your links too! I don’t want anyone to lose my site when I delete Star-Girl and not be able to find it again :(

What have I been up to since I last blogged? Well, I’m not getting on too well with my dad at the moment for a silly reason..I don’t really want to go into that. At the moment I’m in Nottingham, with wireless broadband! It’s supposed to be ‘up to 8 megs’, but in reality we’re getting about 3 max. Still, I’m more than happy as being able to surf the net anywhere in the house and garden is fun in itself. I’ve also been working at the job I got in the Science and Technology Park. Everyone there is really nice, but they only employ a few students so most of the people there are 35+, which is a bit weird :? I haven’t worked a full day yet, but at least I’m earning money. So far I’ve done some stuff downloading and saving images for a Vodafone pitch they are doing, as well as checking a program for a well-known processor company, and one designed for pharmacists to be able to diagnose whether their customer has a cold or flu (and some other stuff). I get the feeling I’m going to learn a lot of useful/useless things :P

Other than that, I’ve been spending time playing the role of housewife, cleaning, washing up, washing/drying clothes, hoovering etc. I honestly do not know how my mum copes. My house is a hell of a lot smaller and she was a lecturer *shakes head* I’ve never been more appreciative of all the stuff she did. It just seems never ending. I feel about forty, and I am genuinely surprised I’m not grey yet. I have no idea how I’ll cope when I start uni again. Nika does the cooking and that’s a big job in itself when you include preparation, shopping, organising fridge/freezer/cupboards/shelves/drawers etc.

Tom and Em are coming to visit tomorrow, which will be fun as the only people I’m really seeing at the moment are Andy, Nika and Phil (living with them at the moment), plus Richard and Kieran. It’ll be nice to see some new faces :D I haven’t really planned anything, but there are several possibilities; wandering around town, going out somewhere to eat, going to the local pub, going bowling/to the arcade, playing games, general chatting etc. Unfortunately Nika won’t get to see them really as she’s working most of the day (she got a job in the cinema and gets 2 free passes a week!), but Phil hasn’t met them before and I think they’d get on really well so it’s all good.

I’m aiming for at least daily blogs at the moment and I’ll be updating as regularly as I can (and listing them on the ‘Updates’ page), so keep checking back :) Also, I’d appreciate feedback on what you think, what needs to be changed etc. And I’d love to know – what’s your favourite change/new feature/update so far? Comment and tell me :D

Okay, that’s me done!

    Hey Jenni!

I haven’t read your blog yet so nothing in this comment will be relative to that, lol sorry.

I just wanted to wish you congratulations on moving the site and luck on fixing those annoying little errors (none in partiuclar, but I gather you must have some from your splash page)

Your site was by far the most helpful when I was beginning to learn webdesign! Thanks for all your hard work :)

  2. Chance says:

Firstly congratulations on the new site, It’ll be sad saying goodbye to Star-Girl.org :(

But on a happiers scale is sounds like everything is going welll, excluding the cleaning :)

As for the wireless internet thing, have you tried updating your router if it isn’t that fast. We have rediculosly fast onternet in my house, and on our route, it’s still rediculously fast :) It’s a linksys something, check it out.

    Well done on everything :)

    :) Chance :)

Congrats on the new site Jenni. Very fresh! I’ll be sad to see star-girl go. It’ll take me a while to remember it’s blossom and not star-girl lol! But I like the name :)

So are you going to be living with Andy, Nika, and Phil all year? I think that’ll be a lot of housework for you lol!! So jealous of you having your own house! And I’m so jealous of Nika working in the cinema! Would be a dream job for me getting free cinema tickets lol!

    Hope you’re well xx

  4. Annie says:

    Heya Jenni :)

I haven’t commented on your blog before but it was extremely good, my site making knowledge is much better :D Seriously I made my own site :o haha that was with lots and lots of help from Star-girl.org. Thanks for that :D

Oo as for your themes I can’t choose which I prefer they’re all great. At the moment I’m using the Shakira one. I haven’t looked at other features you have but I will after work hehe. Great job on the site, I really love what you’ve done with it.

Congratulations on your job :) Sounds like it’s going to be an interesting experience.

Hope everything is okay between you and your dad.

Aww you are busy, aren’t you? With all the housework, work and blossom.nu. You’re dealing with it a lot better than I would.

About your first paragraph on the long journey I know what you mean…well…not completely because your site has more pages and most likely has tons of coding but it’s looking great.

Okay I’m going to have a look at the rest of the site now *looking*

Jenni, hey…long time no ‘see’ – great to see you back and active and with a new domain :)

    Take care gorgeous xxx

  6. Chau says:

JENNI!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!! Hehe. I love the domain name, I love the layout, I love everything! Well, I need to go check out the content… Hehe. I’ll change your URL as soon as possible! Anyways…

Ahh! That’s awesome that you have wireless broadband! Hehe.

    Good luck with your job!

Hehe, yeah, I know what you mean about all of the housework, etc, because it is very tiring!!

Wow, daily blogs? I can’t even do that! Hehe. Good luck!!

  7. Julie says:

Wow you got a new domain again heh. It’s purty though. Thanks for letting me know. It looks lovely so far but I’m at work so I can’t do a thorough look heh. But you’re right, it has been a while since we commented back and forth and I think we need to pick that back up. *hugs* Take care and good luck with your new home and homely duties, plus uni once it starts back up.

  8. Emma says:

Have to say, it is looking REALLY good! Glad you are back, and with a website to shame us all into updating our own!

  9. Lilith says:

Hi there Jenny, congrats on the brand new website, good luck with it. Lilith x

  10. Caroline says:

so that’s what you were working on all this time ;) It looks quite good, only seen the blog so far though, going to check the rest out in a bit. It’s always a good feeling to open up a new site! I have had that again with Lavender, but now I can’t work on it because of various reasons. Doing household and all the responsibilities is a big change, huh? I’m staying in the house of my uncle and aunt for a week with my sister and it’s so weird to do everything haha

  11. Trang says:

Yay Jenni! I’m soo proud of you. Nowadays most people don’t have time to re-create a whole website. Yay it looks GREAT.

  12. Vicky says:

Congratulations on getting all this done and completed and what not.
If it had been me I would have just fallen at the first hurdle, so to speak.

  13. Anna says:

I love the new domain name. I haven’t had a chance to look around to see the changes yet. Just about to.

I hate household chores as well. My parents & one of my sisters are on holiday at the moment. So it’s just me & my other sister. She doesn’t know how to work the washing machine so I’m doing all the washing. The good thing is that I suck at cooking so she’s doing all that.

  14. Nicole says:

Hey Jenni, I love the new layout and how it looks. I havent got the chance to look at the content. But I sure will after this comment lol.

HAHA! I think everyone feels that way when they do things on their own. My mom once in a while says how she appricates everything her mom taught her, even at times she didnt want to do the chores.

  15. Sherri says:

The new site looks wonderful. I’m loving the Teal Capri skin. It’s nice that you did a total revamp, it still looks similar but definitely more updated. I haven’t commented or anything for so long, to be honest I hardly visit anymore. I learned a lot about web and graphic designing here, it’s so nice to see that it’s still alive and doing well. Congratulations on the new site Jenni!

  16. Colleen says:

  21. Sarah says:

I completely know how you feel about opening your site up. Just a little while ago I opened up an e-book shop that I had been working on for almost this whole year (adding items, designing, formatting, etc.) and it felt like such a HUGE relief and accomplishment to finally have it opened. You’ve done a great job, everything looks amazing! :D

  22. AFQ says:

    W0WZ3RS.

This webbie looks 1000 times better than kutekitten and Star Girl!

I was wondering what u were doing because you hadn’t been adding any new content or blogging alot.

    -AFQ

  23. Erin says:

Oh my goodness Jenni! Your site has amazed me ever since KuteKitten! I’m so glad you’re back I thought you died but the site is AMAZING. I love you Jenni! -bows down and kisses jenni’s feet-
