Work work work

Question: Who gives university students group work to do over the Easter holidays?

Dr. Moron, that’s who! *cough* I would say his real name but I might get in trouble. It’s only one letter different though, hence the nickname I’ve given him :)
So we have 3 linked questions. There’s a group of four of us. We live all over the country. And we have a month off for Easter.
Looks like we’ll be doing the questions over e-mail. God bless the Internet.

In other news, I have shit loads of work in general. I have a seminar presentation today, as well as a seminar with questions (I’ve kind of answered them…), and a seminar this afternoon on ‘Frankenstein’ which I don’t intend to do any work for. Then Booze Cruise tonight (boat down the canal with as much alcohol as you can drink), then tomorrow a run through of the group presentation on Shakespeare’s sonnets (and I’m still writing my part of the presentation). Then I’m going to Leicester(shire?) with Nika Friday-Saturday.

Then after all that is out of the way, I have an essay to write by the 24th March. After that, I have exam revision to do (I get my exam timetable on Friday, and I’m supposed to be choosing modules for next year at the moment), a MadEvil essay to write over Easter and a 3,000 word language investigation.

*breathe*

WHY do I have no work all year and then about 50% of the entire work comes all over these couple of months?!

I watched ‘Super Size Me’ last night. It was scary to see all the stuff they have in America: the massive play places for kids, the Ronald McDonald cartoon etc. etc… *shivers* And 4 McDonalds per sq mile in Manhattan – that’s just scary.

Did anyone else who’s seen that movie notice that the 10 ‘fattest cities’ in America are all on the East Coast?? Don’t know if that’s still true, I just found it interesting like the geeky ex-geographer that I am. Theories/explanations are welcome :)

So, I’ll check in again when I get a bit more free time

Dead.

Well I don’t feel like blogging in the slightest but I guess I really should…might be time for a break from my site I think (haha – not much of a break considering I’m only blogging anyway at the moment). Hopefully this restless mood I’m in will pass, or I may quit webdesign altogether and open up a free blog *shrugs*
I’ve been into it for nearly 6 years now, and I’m wondering if it’s time to move on. It originally started when I first got the Internet and I didn’t really get out much, heh. Now my life goes up and down socially, but as I’m at uni, I do a lot more stuff and even without going out clubbing at night, there’s going to bars and pubs, doing quizzes, going to the cinema, bowling, gym, going out to eat etc. And of course my weekends are taken up by going home occasionally, having Andy stay etc. etc.
So whereas when I was at school at 14 during the day, then spent most of the night surfing the Internet, now I barely have time. And when I do have time, I’m either tired or don’t really have anything to say (like now).

I found out one of my best friends from high school (i.e. from 11-16) is living in the hall (dorm) next to mine. Last time she saw me I was way overweight and not a very nice person. I’m tempted to meet up with her just to see her face, which I think would be quite amusing :P

Today I’ve planned to do quite a lot of stuff…my day looks like this so far:

8:00 Breakfast
9:00 Shower
9:00-10:45 Type up notes in my room
10:45-11:50 Drama lecture (with Sarah)
11:50-1:00 Library (Shakespeare’s sonnets notes/reading)
1:00-2:00 Back to room, Shakespeare work, eat lunch
2:00-3:00 Work
3:00-4:30 Gym
4:30-6:00 Get changed/read/work
6:00-6:20 Eat dinner (with Nika and whoever else)
6:20+ Go to library to meet up with my presentation group (Roger and Olivia)

That’s a pretty hardcore day for me so I’m going to be exhausted by about 7pm lol. That’s if I make it that far.

Edit: Am knackered. Did everything except eat dinner, because I didn’t really have the time. I need to eat about 500-600 more calories to make it to 1200 for the day, lol. Damn exercise.

Flaben

I have a little puzzle for you. I’ve been avoiding snacks completely and just eating 3 straight meals in halls. Which has meant for the majority of this week, I’ve had cereal or toast for breakfast, baguette and salad for lunch, and whatever crap there is for dinner. I’ve allowed myself one ‘bad’ thing a day (usually dessert, since I actually like the desserts that are on offer at dinner). Anyway, I went to the gym today and weighed myself. And I’ve lost about 3 lbs (and that’s after over half a litre of water).

BUT (and this is the strange thing)

The jeans that I could fit into easily last year no longer fit.

Strange much?

How can I lose a bit of weight but have the jeans that fitted me when I was about 6 lbs heavier not fit any more?!

*sigh*

Anyway, happy March people!!!

Last night Nika and I made pancakes for tons of people in our hall lol. Simply because we cooked them in a kitchen that a lot of our friends pass. And it was dinner time. We had pancakes instead of dinner, with chocolate spread and banana. Sooo nice. (But kinda ruined my diet. Oh well…).

Today was a pretty productive day. I had no classes, but I got up for breakfast at 8:30, and then did some reading. I was looking at the information for my ‘Selected American Novels’ reading, and we’re supposed to do 80 hours’ reading (that’s from January-May). So I started reading Hemingway’s ‘Fiesta: The Sun Also Rises’, and I now have a new love /end English geekiness

Then I got out of bed again, dressed and walked into Beeston, cashed my cheque from Bravenet, bought some new jeans, went to Sainsbury’s and bought stuff for me and Andy for the weekend. I went to Subway for lunch as well.

I came back to my room, sorted my laundry and washed/dried my clothes. Did some more reading. I also tidied my room, phoned 02 about my new phone again (&%$$””%), but it should be sorted now…

Yeah, my productive day has kind of tailed off now. I was going to go clubbing with Richard and Naomi, but am too tired and didn’t get enough work done today. Still, I’m seeing Richard on Friday because we are going out for his birthday. I cannot wait to see his hair in real life. So I’ll probably write up some more notes tonight, and tick another thing off (my very long) to-do list.

Tonight was ‘Latin Night’ *cough* The kitchen staff translated ‘Latin’ to mean Greek, Italian and Spanish food. Hmmm. There were streamers, alcohol on sale, and various assorted inflatable cacti (do inflatable ones count as bad feng shui????), and a ‘Happy Fiesta!’ sign. We also had dips on the tables, and glass jugs. They really pushed the gondola out for this one :hmm:
There was cheesecake for dessert, which is not really Spanish, Italian or Greek. However, it may have been considered Brazilian as there was also a flag of Brazil.
The climax of the meal was definitely the washer-upper’s sombrero. Nika was chatting to him about hers, which is apparently bigger, although as I pointed out, it’s not the size of your sombrero, it’s what you do with it.

Apparently we’re having a themed night every 5 weeks now.

Perhaps the next one will be an Oriental Night with Welsh food (i.e. sheep).
