Subway!

I went into Subway today, and got served by exactly the same guy I got served by on Sunday. On Sunday, the guy was just a normal Subway sandwich maker, slightly quiet, but perfectly normal.

Today he was either under the influence of Class A drugs or aiming for the ‘Subway Employee of the Century’ award.

So he asks me what I want, and just as I open my mouth, I get a big long story about how they have a ‘bread problem’ and they only have certain things left. Fair enough. I open my mouth to say what type of bread I want, but before I can speak, he decides he just has to go through every type of bread on every shelf and the quantities and how fresh it is and whether he recommends it. I was slightly surprised by this, and a little thrown, but about fifteen years later I actually managed to get a word in and get the Italian bread (the first one he mentioned all those fifteen years ago), the only one I actually like.

Then he feels the need to repeat my salad stuff back to me several times, I’m not quite sure why, maybe he was bored (or high). Then, as I got to the counter to pay – after several more years had passed – he decides he can’t ring my voucher through and calls over another member of staff. Then they had a huge discussion about his hat, argued about the way to enter the information into the till, and then I finally managed to pay and take my food.

Surprisingly, my sandwich was still quite warm.

At some point along the line, Nika came in and also got the omgveryinterestingunmissablebreadstory!!!!111111

Which I sadistically found very amusing.

I had the day off today and so went to my drama teacher with Sarah to rant about our bad mark for directing…yeah..he agreed with me that he marked a couple of things wrongly, but looks like our grade won’t get changed all that much (if at all). Which is very annoying, but unfortunately he’s the module convenor. I could go into a huge rant about the unfairness of it all, but I can’t be bothered. I think I’m turning into a much more laid back person; if it had happened a couple of years ago I would’ve gone uncontrollably mad. But now I’m just like, ‘Meh’. I’m not turning into a pushover though.
I also did laundry today, and read some more of my book, and went shopping. Very relaxing. This evening I had dinner with Jenni, Livie, Nina, Lucy, the Kathryns and Jen, which was fun. I’ve not seen them all properly for what seems like ages, even though it’s just like a week or something. I’ve been spending too much time with Nate and Nika! In about an hour or so I’m going to the gym with Lucy, Jenni and Kathryn, and then Nate is coming over around 10pm :) I really will return comments on this entry, I’ve just had no time to return others recently.

Oooh…blog entry

I’m succumbing to the demands of you people asking me to blog. Although it won’t be very interesting because this week so far has been one big blur of lack of sleep and falling asleep in random places and weird dreams about buses.

Actually…reading that back, it does sound interesting. How weird.

Anyway, my coursework was due in on Tuesday. So I did the sensible thing on Monday night and stayed up until 4am chatting to people :P Never use me as an example, children.

I just about managed to get my coursework in, and I had a couple of hours of lectures and then spent the rest of the day in bed from exhaustion and stress. Lol. Well, it was my own fault.

Then Tuesday night, I went to the theatre with Sarah and saw a Greek tragedy called ‘Burial at Thebes’. It was great, I haven’t seen a play in ages and the theatre we went to was really nice (very small picture here). We want to go and see ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’, which is on in a month or two I think.

Wednesday night Nika had a small party-type thing in her room, which was…indescribable. Basically. It’s just one of those nights that you tell people about and they’re just like, ‘Oh. Right.’ *blink blink*, because it was hilarious and amusing at the time, but isn’t when you repeat it. Ok, I’m tying myself up in knots now so I’ll stop.

I spent most of Thursday morning in bed, until the electrician came in to stick random stickers on my light switch and plug sockets for mysterious, inexplicable reasons. Still, he seemed to have fun doing it so who am I to criticise? Then I had a lecture 3-4pm on corpus linguistics, which was moderately boring because…it just was? It’s too easy and yet moves too far away from English for my liking (too many statistics and graphs and shit). Then a guy from the self-catering flats came over and we watched ‘The Girl Next Door’ (joint choice). He’s coming over again in about 10 minutes…Thursday I had a very strange dream, and I woke up on the stairs leading up to Nika’s room.

Today I had a seminar, which was fun because the teacher (do I still call them teachers?? I’m not sure…) went around the group in order of seating asking for contributions on the novel. Which I hadn’t read. (In fact, I still haven’t finished it and most people have finished the next one, which is slightly worrying). But I successfully blagged making a general point and even linked the novel to a couple of similar(ish) books I read for A level, yay! :) Not bad considering I’d only read the first few chapters.

The weird thing about having my Internet connected to a network is that I get itunes playlists/songs off anyone else in uni who’s connected to the network. It’s frustrating because I can only play their songs, not save them, but apparently there’s a program that I can download to fix that.

May add more later ;)

College/Wales/Random

*sigh* I’ve accidentally written a 1,000 word essay on birds. The question was to write about symbolism in the novel I studied, so I started off with birds and got carried away. I’ve also written/have to write about religion, faith, dreams, illness, family, warm/cold/weather, ballads and Western American fiction, ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ and ‘The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters’. I’m already 800 words over the 1,500 word limit, so it’s going to be a looong weekend tearing my hair out and cutting it down.
And once I’ve finished that (if I ever finish), I have lots more work to do, including the cursed MadEvil Studies.

So, I ended up going into college yesterday with Em, instead of Wednesday, because it was my mum’s birthday and we went to Wales. I think only my parents would have the idea of visiting seaside towns in the UK on a weekday in November :hmm: But it was quite fun, surprisingly :) Especially standing on a hill in the middle of a field, with my mum going, ‘It’s just like the country here!!’ Yeah..in fact, it is the country, mum *shock horror*

Going back to college was a bit strange, and there’ve been a lot of changes, but it’s still basically the same place. Talked to about half of my old teachers I think, and most of them seemed pleased to see us. We answered all the old questions – how’re doing, what you studying, how you getting on – got used to the double takes they did on first seeing us etc. The interesting thing was they treated us even more like adults and told us plenty of random things, bit of juicy staff gossip, how much they spend on childcare (!). Oh, and Farmer Dave (m,y Geography teacher) is organising a trip to Barcelona so I might try muscling my way in on that :P I quite fancy some sun.

Well..that was just a bit of a random update. I’m going to try and finish off a few more sections of my coursework so I can hopefully watch ‘Bridget Jones’ before going to bed. Tomorrow I’m seeing Hannah for the first time since the middle/endish of September, yay!
