Strange Day
Well yesterday was weird. First of all, I had this really strong feeling that my Geography teacher wouldn’t be in, and he wasn’t! (But it meant I was waiting around from 10:25-2:50 for a lesson, which I wasn’t very happy about). Then I was at the vendors and I dropped some money. I heard a voice behind me say, ‘You dropped your change Miss Brown.’ I turned round….and had absolutely no idea who it was or how they knew my name. It was weird.
Oh, I forgot to tell you about last Friday
I had English Language, which is a class full of mainly not-very-intelligent-but-still-vaguely-normal people. The teacher kept going out of the room, and someone started joking about all hiding in the cupboards (they are floor to ceiling and huge). Then someone suggested moving into a different classroom. So we all got up (there were about 15 of us), grabbed our stuff and rushed into an empty classroom across the corridor. What’s even funnier is that we rushed into the other classroom, and all sat in exactly the same places in about five seconds flat without any planning lol. We were just about to write the question on the board in the new room when we heard our teacher coming back. He walked into our original room, then walked into our room, walked back out again and went to sit in the other room on his own. It was absolutely hilarious.
After a while, we realised he was doing the register and rushed back to avoid being marked absent, to the astonishment of random people sitting in the corridor, who had been watching everything.
Oh, and I know I’ve been quoting stupid people a lot recently, but this was just classic. It was about five minutes into our History lesson, and we were just leaving the Student Centre at college, where we’d been for break (which is basically a big room fairly near the classrooms) when our evil History teacher entered…
Him: You’re late.
Me: So are you.
Him: Oh yeah!
Idiot.
I’m upset, my parents’ poll cards have arrived but not mine. I want to vote goddamnit! The election is what, less than a month away, and I have no card
Not that I’m entirely sure who I’m going to vote for at present, but that’s not the point
Well…it is, but you know.
Okay, I’m going to stop before I start getting even more confused
Memory Lane
Everything seems to be back to normal now *crosses fingers*
Sometimes the stupidity of people amazes me. I went food shopping the other day. As I was walking into the supermarket, I saw my tutor walking out of the entrance with his shopping. And I can’t decide which are worse, the people who walk so slowly all the way through the store, or the people who walk really fast and then stop dead. I actually walked past a couple standing in front of one of the upright freezers, and just peering in and discussing the products like they were watching TV. I stopped right by the freezer (because just my luck, it was the one I wanted to get to), and they saw me there and continued discussing the ice cream. Five minutes later, they moved onto the next freezer to dicuss the frozen peas, without even opening that one, and I was finally able to get to it.
After finally managing to get what we needed, we walked out of the shop and to the car, where there are knee-height black concrete posts to separate the car park from the outside of the shop. I distinctly heard a woman say to her son, ‘Don’t touch the posts, you don’t know where they’ve been.’ Well clearly you do know where they’ve been, they are concrete posts that weigh a ton and they’re hardly going to walk off somewhere and stand in dog shit are they?!
Maybe I’m too picky, it’s probably because I’m a linguist
I bought a big photo album today for all my college photos. Getting them out, I realised just how many there are; the theatre trip to London, Beeston Castle, Chester, Ainsdale Beach, France, Belgium, New York and Italy. And of course my party photos, of which I seem to have lost most of so I’m going to have to have another look from them. I must have about 300 photos, don’t think they’ll all fit in but I’m going to try. I really am going to miss college; quite a few of my friends are at the stage where they hate it now but I’ve just loved it pretty much all the way through. It’s going to be so upsetting leaving all my friends behind. Looking at the photos made me think that I should go to the ‘Leavers’ Do’ that is being held – but they stupidly put it right in the middle of my exams, and even though it’s a Friday I have about 60 pages of pre-released exam material given to me that day, which I have to have sorted out for Monday. So, we’ll see.
50 commentsNew Driving Instructor
Well, today was pretty busy. It was Hannah’s birthday, so I gave her the presents I got her  Loads of cute things, a bracelet from here, a teddy from the bear factory, some Body Shop Stuff, lip balm etc. lol. I went out for a meal with her and her family which was really nice, I had a great time
This afternoon, I had my first driving lesson with my new instructor. His ginger beard put me off him straight away, although as a rule I never judge by appearances. It’s kind of lucky in a way that I did this time though, because he really has no personality. He attempted once to start a conversation with me, by saying, ‘Oh I need to wash the pots when I get home’. And there really is nothing you can possibly say to that which doesn’t sound sarcastic. Trust me, I sat there for about five minutes trying to think of something.
He also said, ‘I don’t know about you, but I’m beginning to feel peckish!’ I was like, wtf?! I suggested drive-thrus, he said ‘No, but we can do petrol stations’. No thanks.
He sort of tried though. He asked me what I like doing driving-wise, so I told him 70, since the only thing I like about driving is speed. Which turned out to be a mistake, since whenever we got on a road more than 30, he kept on at me to slow down, even when the limit was 70 and I was doing something ridiculous like 55. He even said to me, ‘It’s a good thing I don’t scare easily’ (!!) I wasn’t even doing anything remotely scary! Either driving or personality wise (and trust me, I can be very scary in both those things, especially combined).
Unfortunately, the poor guy doesn’t know his left from his right or his colours.
Me: Which way should I go here?
Him: That way.
Since I was looking at the road, that was completely useless.
AND after he’d got the colour wrong of about four cars, he was like, ‘I’m not colour blind! That car in front is red/orangey/gold/bronze’ (!!) Then next thing he was like, ‘Stop behind the green car’. I was like, what?! Oh, he means the blue car. Of course. What was I thinking?!
By this point, I really did want to pull my arm off and throw it at him. He spent every single second criticising me, and I’m bad at taking criticism as it is. He barely spoke to me apart from that or to give (crap) directions, then said that he’d been told he ‘was too helpful’ on his last appraisal :S His help is non-existant.
Plus, he kept making subtle hints. When I’m driving, I do not do subtle hints.
Him: Oh, I don’t like the look of that stone wall.
Me: (ignores him)
Him: I don’t like the look of that stone wall!
Me: (moves about a metre away from it)
Him: I really don’t like the look of that stone wall.
Me: (thinking) Well, it’s looking better to me all the time, actually.
He really did make me feel the need to drive into a wall/tree/person.
Okay, I’m off to go and slit my wrists now.
