Ha!

My ‘be positive’ approach is working well so far..apart from one minor setback due to my history teacher….
Basically, we have coursework essays which have to be in this Friday and signed to check they are ours, that they have the right amount of words etc., because they count such a lot towards the final grade. Anyway, most teachers in the college are willing to answer questions and go over/mark people’s coursework several times. Our history teacher has looked at it once. :hmm: Then he said that we could talk to him about it, but he wouldn’t take it in, because he couldn’t do that for everyone in the class and it wouldn’t be fair. Ok, fair enough. So yesterday I asked him for help, and he agreed to see Tom and I in second lesson (even though that meant we would have to give up some time from our English Lit. lesson). So Tom goes in after the person before him walks out and comes out practically straight away – Andy wouldn’t see him! Yet he spoke to at least 3 other people about it, so what happened to, ‘I’m not going to take it in because it will be unfair on others’?! So not talking to some people is suddenly ok?! :grr: Plus he’d already agreed to seeing us! Anyway, I talked to other people who he actually had spoken to, and they said he wasn’t helpful at all

I read somewhere, if you want something in life, go to the top. Since my teacher is actually the head of the department, there wasn’t a whole lot further I could go, but I went to see one of the student managers (my form tutor last year and part-time history teacher). I felt really bad for asking him, as he has about four times as much work to do as my teacher (he has all his student manager stuff to do plus he does something else, I’m not sure what and he teaches law and history, and maybe politics too I don’t know), but unlike my teacher, he doesn’t complain or make you feel about two inches tall and that your time isn’t as important as his :hmm: Anyway, I’m really glad I did go to see him because he spent an hour going through every sentence with me, suggesting changes, working in his own sentences, writing stuff down for me etc. I knew my fake ‘perfect student’ reputation would come in useful here :D He’s generally a really scary guy (even the other teachers think so), but he’s always liked me. Which quite possibly says a lot about me :P Anyway, he told me to make the changes and email it to him, and he’d look at it again the next day. I got the email about half an hour ago, and he has changed quite a lot of it and added stuff too. I need to go and read it and decide whether it’s ok :P I’m sure it will be ;) The moral of the story? Keep complaining till you get your own way ;) It’s the exact opposite of my ‘be positive’ approach, but never mind.

Edit Just finished commenting on the 40 odd sites of last entry’s commenters, it took me nearly an hour! *wipes brow* If you didn’t have a new blog up or you have a .tk, I didn’t comment because I couldn’t. but I did everyone else :)

BTW the song Joe and I are doing (don’t die Mr snowman) is completely origional! I have to write the lyrics today, then he will do the music! hee hee

  9. Steph says:

That teacher sounds really annoying even though about eveyone else who has commented has said the exact same thing!
    I’ve never heard that saying
‘if you want something, go to the top’ but i don;t hear/read a lot of things i’m supposed to :P
Thanks loads for your comment! I appreciate it more as you said it took you about an hour to get through everyone!

  10. Anna says:

I hate teachers who aren’t willing to go through the work with you, that’s part of their job. I’m glad that other teacher went through it with you. That’s good. :)
A whole hour? OMG! That is such a long while!

  11. Laura says:

Aww haha, and what a good moral that was too! I shall keep that in mind =) Your history teacher sounds a bit of an idiot though, he wasn’t being very fair to do that.

  12. Emma says:

WOW! You went to over 40 people to comment on their sites. That is pretty amazing. About the cancer thing, yeah I hope they do find a cure. I know that they are raising money from those bracelets that they’re selling…

  13. Your history teacher sounds like a really annoying person:grr: I would freak out if I met him I think, even though I have a teacher that sounds just like him:hmm:

That other teacher sounds much nicer, even though you say he’s scary:crazy:

  14. Collen says:

Yikes! O.o Hmm… your history teacher is really annoying. O.o And wow, you commented at 40 sites?! Yeah, thanks for commenting at my site jenni! You are a very good person!! ^_^

  15. Katie says:

That history teacher just annoys me XD And i dont even know him!

Thanks for commenting. Its nice that you like my blogs, tis a lovely feeling :P

  16. Lisa says:

Wow, well done for commenting on all 40 sites! :)
I hate teachers that have such double standards, I mean, if you’re going to do something for one person, do it for the rest. And then don’t use that as a reason for not doing something, and then … uhhh, i’m rambling. But the basis of what I’m saying makes sense. lol.
The fake “perfect” image really does help, I’ve found as well. Because they think you’re a really good student you get more help, looser deadlines, and general nicer attitudes from teachers. :) Meh, who needs popularity? lol.

  17. hope says:

aggh! its so annoying when a deacher does that, and wont help, but its also very nice when you get a kind, friendly techer :)

  18. ~Cat~ says:

Whoa…. 40 sites! *checks mine* WOW!!! THX FOR THE COMMENT!! hehehe well good luck with your history teacher…. cause he sounds mean…. i hate mean teachers. I mean if they don’t like kids (well, younger people) or they have a bad attitude towards them, why should they teach? ESPECIALLY when they say they want to be fair (like in your case) but really, they’re not!

Heh, I do find complaining to work. Like, for my earth science “teacher”, I complain to my mom about him. And, well, she believes me! (Not that i’m not lying to her) But yea… well thx again for the comment! its cool, even if it was just a short note. :D

    :love::love::love:

  19. Hollie says:

Grrr about your history teacher. It’s annoying when people say they will do something, and they don’t. Glad you got some help in the end :) Thanks for commenting ;) xxx

  20. Sammii says:

Some teachers really are stupid. I hate the fact that my future depends on them, yet most of them are stupid, old farts. :grr:

  21. Tishi says:

Whoaa… 40 sites to comment on. At my commenting length that would be impossible. Well you know me, I dont do short and sharp lol. I do long and… eh, long :P

Gee, your history teacher sounds like a real twat. They’re not supposed to favour people like that though! But thats really weird, he promised to see you and then didnt want to talk to you  WTF.

Sometimes teachers seem to think that they get paid to teach and to teach only and that they dont have to do anything else since they get paid to little. Bullcrap.

    Haha, thats funny that hes scary and everything. Haha. Most of my teachers probably think I either;
am THE PERFECT STUDENT (art, ICT)
Am clever but chat to the person sitting next to me much (french. maths, english, biology)
Im quiet (Chem, physics, geography, history, RM)

    Hahaha, not that anyone cares but yeah, thought you might like to know ^-^;;

Hmm, I would get rather pissed off after an hour of someone pointing out my mistakes and going through stuff. Meh. I like to use my time in my own way ahaha.
I cant get on .tk sites for some reason :\ I can at school though *confuzzled*

  22. Kat says:

Aww, I’m glad that you’re doing good :) I’m sorry you’re teacher isn’t being helpful, our teachers don’t ever go over our stuff at all. Well, I’m glad you got help at improving your paper :D

  23. Dannie says:

Glad the approach is sort of working out for you! lol. Stupid teachers.. tsk tsk

  24. Kit says:

Whoa, 40 sites?! That’s pretty damn good, lol. Your history teacher sounds *almost* as bad as my English language teacher. We gave in our A2 coursework first draft at the beginning of December, still have yet to get it back with feedback no matter how many times we ask. :grr: And the deadline is getting awfully close, and she’s put us onto revision now. Glad you got to work it out with your student manager though.

  25. cat says:

Wow, your history teacher sounds really mean  but I’m glad you found someone else to go to for help. I mean, it is a teacher’s job to HELP!! lol. Anyway, I hope your coursework paper does well in the end ;) and keep up the “be positive” approach… but make exceptions when necessary :P

  26. Jennifer says:

That teacher seamaed well mean, its a good job there was that other teacher :P Last year our english teacher set us an essay just so we could try realy hard and get it wrong. :P Teachers like that are soo annoying. 40+ Comments thats allot to comment. thankies for mine  =-)

  27. Jenny says:

What a dumbass! What on earth are teachers for if they aren’t going to teach you and help you improve?

My physics teacher is a bit like that. One girl asked a question because she didn’t understand and my teacher shrieked “I’m not here to answer your questions! You have to start thinking for yourself!” so the girl goes “I just wanted some help ’cause I don’t understand” and she just goes “HELP?!” like it’s a completely new concept that teachers are there to help pupils.

    *Sigh* Silly teachers.

Its good to know there are good ones as well though :)

  28. Britt says:

Hmm, seems like you’re History teacher isn’t that nice. Our teachers never help us with that kind of stuff. I’m glad that other guy helped you though!

  29. ITT says:

wow, that really makes no sense. Kinda of a hypocrit for himself in this situation eh?

But your other teacher sounds awesome! And yes, that does say alot about you. You rock! LOL, yah.. that is so nice of him to take time to help you and all :P

  30. Kat says:

eek, your history teacher really doesn’t sound very helpful  It’s good that your old tutor helped you though :) I think I’ve got it quite lucky with my coursework deadlines… the deadline school sets is today, but both my coursework subjects have set it later :D (I only have coursework for ICT and Business, I don’t have any for RS)

Woah, 40 comments. It takes me long enough to return like, five. lol.

  31. Mike says:

I am glad you are feeling better! I really dislike when teachers behave like that. I mean, come on, you are getting paid to TEACH, not lecture for an hour then expect no questions. If teachers aren’t willing to be 100% dedicated then I do not believe they should even teach in the first place.

That was nice of that student manager to help you out. The world needs more people like that. :)

Keep staying positive Jenni! I am glad that I started reading your blogs. I am obsessed with this site now, haha.

  32. Tina says:

Hey, thanks for visiting my site :) Eh, some teachers huh?!

  33. Rima says:

Hey thanks for the reply on my site, i feel so special to have recieved a comment by somebody as famous as you! lol. I really hate teachers like you’re history teacher. I mean just spewing out facts isn’t going to teach anybody much, you know? It’s espescially annoying when teachers make commitments and don’t stick to them, yet they expect you too:grr: :grr: The student manager seems really nice though, he seems alot like my English teache because she’s also the head of student activities, and already does way more work than any other teacher on campus. I think it’s awesome he took time out of his schedule to help you for so long, and you’re right it definetly says something about you (espescially if he’s usually scary). Hah, i guess you just have this ‘wow’ effect on people! I’m loving the moral of the story, haha. Allright, well i’ll be back on your next blog, bye!

  34. Emily says:

I can’t believe some people! The cheek! He’s your teacher! Anyway I’m happy that it worked out. Your form tutor sounds really generous if he was prepeared to check your work aswell as everyones he has to teach normally.
40 comments is alot, it would have taken me ages! Cya!
