Finally…inspiration
[EDIT] People, please sign up for yoursite by clicking here and saying Starlet referred you. It’s good fun for reviewing other sites, and you can also review Starshine and help me out. It only takes a few seconds to sign up. I’m trying to get referrers for Starlet since I’m not entering the contest. [/EDIT]
I have finally had some good inspiration for skins, and I will get round to making at least 1 or 2 more new ones this week. Added to the total I’ve already made (including new ones I haven’t put up), there should be 9 or 10 at least. I hope that will make people happy since they were asking for more
But I totally understand, I’m getting bored by them now too ![]()
Hmm, I saw a computer I want for a joint birthday/Christmas present on QVC yesterday, it’s gorgeous. It amused me because they compared it to one about 3-4 years old…and the old one still looked much better than my prehistoric monster, Bill
I have a CD rewriter, Windows XP, all the up-to-date, necessary things, I just don’t have a new computer lol. The tower is so big it goes up to my knees, compared to the tiny one of this PC I want. I’m still working on my parents, my dad goes through phases of having money and being broke…this is one of his more broke times, wonderfully coinciding with my birthday and Christmas :grr:
So that’s why I was mildly surprised when he phoned up before and asked if we wanted to go out for a meal tonight, which will probably cost about £50 ($100). I really don’t understand him sometimes :hmm: But he hasn’t seen much of me and my mum this weekend as he and Lara went off to Wales with Pom,so maybe that’s it. I’m going to talk to him properly about the PC then, I’m getting some inheritance money when I’m 18 so I’m going to offer to pay for part of it.
Ok, I’m going to go and pluck my eyebrows now
Mozilla Firefox
I just downloaded the latest version of Mozilla to see what the site looked like. To be honest, I thought it would look look much worse, since I never validate my coding or even bother to check what my layouts look like in different browsers. For those of you not familiar with Mozilla and web design…basically, if you code the slightest thing wrong, your site ends up looking like shit in Mozilla – that’s if it even works. But S-G.org seems to be pretty fine in it. The calendar doesn’t work at all, but I think that’s about it.
BUT I’m going to work hard to validate all the skins anyway. And then I’ll be able to put those spiffy little ‘Validated’ buttons on my site! Lol, no I’m really doing it so that I know everything is functioning properly ![]()
Back to the general side of things, the topic of ‘Which Internet Browser Is Best’, is up there with euthanasia, abortion etc. People always clamour that Mozilla is so much better than IE but to be honest, the fact that coloured scrollbars don’t work is just really annoying. Pages look so…naked lol. Yeah, I know it’s a small thing. But to be honest, from what I’ve seen so far, IE and Mozilla are pretty similar. Apart from the fact that Mozilla is more secure, which is pretty important. In fact, I might start using it full time, since AOL is based on IE anyway, but doesn’t allow all the spyware, adware etc. to be downloaded.
So, which browser do you use? And do you have an opinion on the IE/Mozilla debate?
Sorry, this blog has been quite technical lol.
To Do: Validate CSS and HTML/PHP for all skins, code and add the 2 new skins I made, make PHP includes and fix all skins.
That’ll do to start with
It’s only a month until Christmas! And just over 2 weeks to my 18th! I’m so excited
Today was an inset day, so no college
I spent a lot of today working though, and although I’ve got a lot of work done, I still have loads left.
I feel so boring going on about college all the time, but that’s the reason why I haven’t updated the content in over a month *sigh*
Now I’ve mostly finished work on Starshine, I’m feeling exactly the same as I did when I finished (the first) Starstruck…that this site is in a mess, I don’t like anything about it (layouts mainly), and I feel like I’m letting people down by not updating. So, since I’m happy with the rest of the sections from my last re-vamp, I’m just going to work on the tutorials section, updating/re-linking/adding tutorials etc. and this time I’m determined to categorise them in a way so that people can actually find what they’re looking for. I’m also going to add an internal search engine so people can find stuff that way. Plus, I’m going to do a lot of messing around with the skins and make some more includes so my links etc. are easier to update.
Despite the rules on the Ask & Answer page, I’m still getting the same old ‘What’s animation shop?’ ‘How do I make a layout?’ type questions. I’m deleting about 10 questions + a day :grr: What’s twice as annoying is when someone posts a webdesign/program question in both my ask and answer AND my guestbook. On BOTH of them it specifies not to ask those sorts of questions. It’s such a waste of my time to have to constantly delete :hmm:
Ok, rant over!!
Since I haven’t actually given anyone much to comment on, if you’d like to make a suggestion for the site (tutorials you want to see, changes to the layout I should make, additional content, ideas about how I could organise stuff), that would be fine
