This is going to be a huge long rant…So if you’re not interested in me moaning on (on a more whiney level than usual), feel free to stop reading now.
Ok, so my history teacher (the evil one who shall remain nameless from now on just in case) has not improved at all.
Let’s recap. He made us do presentations constantly and sent us off to the library for our lessons, which is practically an unspoken rule in our college that teachers do not do this. In fact, I doubt if it has ever even crossed a teacher’s mind before. He can’t teach, he can’t spell, he can’t pronounce words, and all his does is give us whole chapters of books which he’s photocopied. To be fair on us we DID give him the chance to prove himself throughout September, but the further on we went, the worse it got. Firstly, we (I) tried speaking to him, but he wouldn’t let me get a word in edgeways but kept repeating himself over and over, eventually going away with the impression that our class doesn’t like doing presentations. Which is NOT what I said in the slightest, and short of actually coming out and saying, ‘When are we actually going LEARN something?’ (which is rude even for me) there was nothing I could do.
Secondly, we did suggest to him that he stand at the front of the class and actually talk about the subject. So instead, he goes off and then next lesson, we have an hour and a half’s lecture of which we had to make detailed notes. :sick:Basically, he did it on purpose to try and put us off and stop us complaining by going to the other extreme and giving us way too much work. Then the lesson after that, he gave us the whole handout from which he’d ‘lectured’ from. So what exactly was the point of note-making? And the whole booklet is badly spelt, not to mention that the man can’t even put a sentence together or use very basic grammar/English (his Typing goes Something along The lines of This). Random capitals in every sentence, which is very annoying to someone like me, and to be fair, most of the rest of the class. He treats us like we’re stupid and is just generally very irritating. What’s more annoying is the way that he randomly gets angry for no reason at all, and just basically says ‘Stop pissing around!’ in a pretty aggressive way, not jokingly and not in a way which he can get away with really. As well as this, he told that he doesn’t want to teach History and that he’s only here because he failed his pilot exams (you may remember me saying this before). So we told our other teacher, who’s Head of Humanities, but so far nothing’s happened. Nothing visible to us, anyway. Maybe I should suggest to him that he sits in on one of George’s lessons without warning 
Anyway, so, because it was our English teacher Luke’s birthday last week, we made him a joke card in our other History lessons (with our other teacher). Basically it was a joke dictionary definition of ‘Luke’, but unfortunately we wrote on it that Luke is the opposite of the history teacher who shall remain nameless lol. And, as we have English Lit. in our history room because there aren’t any free English rooms when we have our classes, the history teacher found the card when Luke accidentally left it behind :blush: Yes, I know it was immature but we are very frustrated people here!
So today in history, the teacher made this huge long analogy about learning to ride a bike and a baby learning to walk (which ironically enough contrasted completely with a good academic analogy that Luke made in English this very morning about learning to drive vs. children learning to read – we were studying children’s acquisition of language) which was basically a stupid way of saying that we couldn’t expect him to be brilliant at his job until he’d had some practice. However, he didn’t say the last part, we had to work it out for ourselves, and the way he explained it meant that half the class had no idea what he was on about and the other half didn’t catch on until the end. At the end, he asked me, Tom and Emma to stay (although Tom didn’t really do anything, we signed his name in the card for him because he was ill), and though the teacher tried to shrug it off and say he didn’t mind, he clearly did by the digs he made at Luke.
So after an initial period of embarrassment, we went to hunt down Luke, but of course he’d gone. :hmm:
But, we are not going to let that stop us. It will be like the Matteotti Crisis in Italy in 1924, which ironically enough is the one thing that he HAS ‘taught’ us about. We are going to make the most of a bad situation and use it to our advantage! With all the History teacher’s vagueness, and the way he expressed it, I’m convinced that he believes we will think that he was good to let us off and that we won’t complain about him any more. However, it has just fuelled our anger and though this is a temporary setback, we will fight till the end!

omg I know how you feel! My science teacher..oh I’ve had her 2 yrs in a row for homeroom I just want to slap her so hard lol she hates me less then I hate her tho haha
oh and btw my english teacher has the worst writing evr..you cant’ even read what he’s written.
Nice long ramble. Good to get it out. God he sounds like a butt… Isn’t there some other teacher or someone in a higher postition than him that can give him a 1 and a 1/2 hour lecture of his own.
Ooo I want some pizza too. Yeh you ate it all. Darn it…..Well your teacher has some kind of problem. I think he doesn’t want to admit he can’t teach or question his authority as a “professional” or egotistical male. I would never confront my teacher. But you are brave.
Dont worry things will get better. I have alot of techers at my school like that. My english teacher cant spell but thats partly because hes learning danish at the same time

Aww I’m sorry you have a teacher like that. I had a chemistry teacher last year who I couldn’t stand.
It would make me crazy if I had a teacher like that!!! But my english teacher is almost that bad, she speaks and writes english worse than me (no wonder I don’t learn much these days)!!! Good luck, hope you can remove him, we almost did so once!!!

Hey, I wouldn’t worry about your ranting. If that was my history teacher, I’d do a lot more thanwhat you’ve done =P Of course, I’d get kicked out of college, but I’d be willing to pay that price to get rid of him

Grr..I just wrote out a long comment and then my internet closed. I’m sorry your history teacher is being bad again, I do think that the head should sit in on a lesson so he can see how the teacher acts normally in classes. It would also be helpful in making critques to him. That’s not good that he saw the card for the English teacher, though. I’m sure that hurt his feelings a bit. You’re such an awesome dork Jenni

I’m so sorry that your history teacher is like that. Is there any way to switch into a different history class? I’m sorry if I sound really stupid in saying that, but I don’t know what college is like. In my high school, if something is too hard or too easy we either move out into a new class or get special adjustments – other people’s notes, permission to take the class elsewhere and still get credit, etc. I’m in sophomore year, and my Philosophy teacher expects us to have every word of the lecture written down, and I get extra help with that. But if that’s not possible, you could just drive him out of the college. Or do the immature thing, and fill his desk with shaving cream .

Hey, sorry your history teacher is like that! We had a science teacher move up form the middle school to the HS and he is evil, i had him in 7th grade and couldn’t stand him well, guess what?! I got him!! Blah but hehe lucky for the high school he wnet back to the middle school no one liked him (no joke he left because of us) lol. Good luck though!!
